Good parking spot to access the Erie canal trail
Miles and miles of open level paths. I hike, bike on various trails quite a bit and sometimes it's nice to just have a place that provides an easy , casual environment. I'm not a fan of the paving project that took place in some sections of the path because I enjoy getting off the asphalt and concrete of my work day and want the feeling of soil , grass or gravel underfoot. I can understand and appreciate they were looking to improve accessibility though.
Newly renovated parking lot means 10x more spaces. The trails are evenly paved and very clean. Great way to spend an afternoon!!
This is the part of the Canal that has not been paved, so it's not covered by black ice in the winter, and it's not scalding hot in the summer. A great part of the canal to visit throughout the year and all four seasons, with the bonus of the bridge that takes you to Green Lakes, just 2 miles from the Manlius Center parking lot
