CONSUMER-- BEWARE! I have had home health care off and on for a few years, and I have never been as disgusted and disappointed by a company as I am with Advanced Care. To start, I did not choose to work with them, I had worked with a company in Denver that is part of the same corporation, and the company in Denver took it upon themselves to transfer my care to Advanced Care in Syracuse. I received a phone call from the pharmacist, Susan, a few weeks prior to my move. She reviewed a few things, and informed me that they would not provide the same supplies that I had been using in Denver; i.e. I would have to run fluids, etc., by gravity. She would not provide a pump. I am not home bound, and to have to run things by gravity prohibits me from being able to do anything aside from sitting do nothing for approx. 5 hours. I was not given a reason for why a pump wouldn't be provided, she just refused. There was also conflicting information with the supplies /medication in my possession and what was provided from the old pharmacy to the new one; we were off by one day. This honestly was not a big deal to me, but to Susan, it was the end of the world. After many cancelled appointments, and excuses as to why she couldn't make it to change my dressing, the visiting nurse (her name was either Linda or Nancy), made me wait on average 9-10 days for my dressing to be changed. ... This really bothered me and left me concerned as a dressing on a central line really needs to be changed no later then 7 days; yet she had the audacity to preach to me about the proper care of a central line. In addition to that, she / the pharmacy would not provide extra face masks in the dressing kit; I was told to turn my head and that would be fine. While I am sure it would suffice to turn my head, the company I worked with in Denver packaged higher quality supplies and took all steps possible to prevent infection, and this company in Syracuse questioned it. I had to travel a few weeks ago on the day I was supposed to receive my delivery. I requested it be delivered on the Monday instead of Tuesday. Susan refused and said that they would ship it to my destination. Seriously? Send all my supplies to a hotel in Manhattan, where I have to pay a processing fee to the hotel, and then have the remainder (4 days worth) of supplies to travel back with? To have to go through security at the airport with liter size infusion bags, needles, and vials of medication make the screening process crazy, and add to that a service dog and my everyday belongings. This was unneeded stress and extra weight to have to carry and keep track of when I am already medically/physically compromised. At one point I needed Cath-flo for a sluggish line. The nurse failed to show up until Sunday afternoon (I was told that for that week someone would come Thursday evening). This heinous woman showed up around 3pm. She gave me the extra Cath-flo to put in the fridge, but then discovered that she was going to need to use it. I have had multiple issues with my current line and needing Cath-flo. This weirdo went and sat in her car for a half hour, came back up to the house and rang the doorbell, then proceeded to sit in her car for another 2 hours while the medication dwelled in my line. This nurse is gross. She is far from professional. Seriously...I am not sure who was worse, Susan or the nurse. They are both morons. I had informed the company that I would be switching companies, and this last week....I had had enough of them, so I was looking for an immediate change. For reasons I cannot figure out, I was told that I have to provide an EXACT count of every supply that I have. WHAT? I have never, ever, had to do such a thing. Cont.
